Pentecost Sunday
At the Last Supper, Jesus made a promise that be comes the heart of Pentecost: “I will ask the Father, and
He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth” (cf. John 14:16–17). Pentecost is the fulfillment of that promise.
When the Holy Spirit descends upon the apostles (Acts 2), everything is changed. The frightened disciples, once locked behind closed doors, are transformed into bold witnesses of the risen Lord. Peter, who once denied Jesus, now proclaims Him with courage. Spirit does not remove their weakness, but transforms itself becomes faith, confusion becomes clarity, and silence becomes proclamation.
Pentecost reveals the Church not as a human achievement, but as the living Body of Christ animated by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the bond of love poured into our hearts (cf. Romans 5:5). He gathers what is scattered, heals what is broken, and unites people of every language and nation into one family of God. The wind and fire of Pentecost are signs that God is not distant but actively drawing His people into communion. This same Spirit is given to us. In Baptism and Confirmation, we receive the gift of God’s own life within us. He speaks in our conscience, strengthens us in weakness, and renews our hope when we grow tired. In moments of fear, He gives courage; in moments of doubt, He reminds us of Jesus’ words; in moments of division, He calls us to love.
Today, the Lord continues to renew His Church—not by human strength, but by the fire of His Spirit. We are invited to open our hearts so that what began in the Upper Room may continue in us today.
Come, Holy Spirit—renew Your Church, renew our hearts, and make us bold witnesses of Christ’s love in the world.
Domingo de Pentecostés
En la Última Cena, Jesús hizo una promesa que se convierte en el corazón de Pentecostés: “Pediré al Padre, y Él les dará otro Intersesor para que esté con ustedes por siempre, el Espíritu de la verdad” (cf. Juan 14:16–17).
Pentecostés es el cumplimiento de esa promesa. Cuando el Espíritu Santo desciende sobre los apóstoles (Hechos 2), todo cambia. Los discípulos asustados, antes encerrados tras puertas cerradas, se transforman en valientes testigos del Señor Resucitado. Pedro, que antes negaba a Jesús, ahora le procla a con valentía. El Espíritu no elimina su debilidad, sino que se transforma en fe, la confusión en claridad y el silencio en proclamación. Pentecostés revela a la Iglesia no como un logro humano, sino como el Cuerpo viviente de Cristo animado por el Espíritu Santo.
El Espíritu es el vínculo de amor vertido en nuestros corazones (cf. Romanos 5:5). Recoge lo que está disperso, sana lo roto y une a personas de todas las lenguas y naciones en una sola familia de Dios. El viento y el fuego de Pentecostés son señales de que Dios no está distante, sino que está atrayendo activamente a su pueblo a la comunión. Este mismo Espíritu nos esdado en el Bautismo y la Confirmación, recibimos el don de la vida de Dios dentro de nosotros. Habla en nuestra conciencia, nos fortalece en la debilidad y renueva nuestra esperanza cuando nos cansamos. En momentos de miedo, da valor; en momentos de duda, nos recuerda las palabras de Jesús; En momentos de división, nos llama a amar.
Hoy, el Señor continúa renovando Su Iglesia no por la fuerza humana, sino por el fuego de Su Espíritu. Esta mos invitados a abrir nuestro corazón para que lo que comenzó en la cena pueda continuar en nosotros hoy. Ven, Espíritu Santo: renueva tu Iglesia, renueva nues tros corazones y haznos testigos valientes del amor de Cristo en el mundo.
