Sundays Readings: Ezekiel 37:12-14; Psalms 130:1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8; Romans 8:8-11; John 11:1-45
LIFE FROM GOD
As we approach Holy Week, our readings speak of a God who, in the midst of death, brings new life to the people. In Ezekiel, we hear that God will open the graves of the people of Israel, who faced near extinction. In the Gospel of John, Jesus gives new life to Lazarus in a manner that prefigures the resurrection of Jesus. Paul tells the Romans that in Christ, God will not only give life to our bodies after death, but God offers us abundant life here and now. We observe that the external conditions for the people described in these readings did not radically change. Israel was still in exile. Lazarus would eventually face death again. But now God’s presence and power are revealed. Even when our situation in life is difficult and perhaps not likely to change soon, we remember that the Spirit dwells within us.

LA VIDA DE DIOS
Al acercarnos a la Semana Santa, nuestras lecturas hablan de un Dios que, en medio de la muerte, trae nueva vida al pueblo. En Ezequiel, escuchamos que Dios abrirá las tumbas del pueblo de Israel, que se enfrentaba a la casi extinción. En el Evangelio de Juan, Jesús da nueva vida a Lázaro de una manera que prefigura la resurrección de Jesús. Pablo dice a los romanos que, en Cristo, Dios no sólo dará vida a nuestros cuerpos después de la muerte, sino que nos ofrece vida abundante aquí y ahora. Observamos que las condiciones externas de las personas descritas en estas lecturas no cambiaron radicalmente. Israel seguía en el exilio. Lázaro acabaría enfrentándose de nuevo a la muerte. Pero ahora se revelan la presencia y el poder de Dios. Incluso cuando nuestra situación en la vida es difícil y tal vez no es probable que cambie pronto, recordamos que el Espíritu habita en nosotros.
