PEOPLE OF THE LIGHT
We are called to reflect the light of God’s love through the ways in which we live our lives. Imagine the impact if each of us took this call to heart, every day, at home, work, or school, in our parish, in the world. “All nations shall stream toward it,” toward the love that only comes from God. Yet, we must admit that much of the time we fail to be beacons of God’s light. We fall asleep, complacent, preferring to go the easy route, which often leads to darkness rather than the radiance of Christ’s light. As we begin the season of Advent, Saint Paul admonishes us to throw off the works of darkness, to awaken to the call of light and love. In today’s Gospel, Jesus to tells us to stay awake, to be prepared to greet the Lord of light as people of the light.

Estamos llamados a reflejar en la luz del amor de Dios através de la forma en que vivimos nuestras vidas. Imagina el impacto que tendría si cada uno de nosotros se tomara a pecho esta llamada, cada día, en casa, en el trabajo o en la escuela, en nuestra parroquia, en el mundo. “Todas las naciones irián hacia ella”, hacia el amor que sólo viene de Dios. Sin embargo, debemos admitir que muchas veces no somos faros de la luz de Dios. Nos dormimos complacientes, prefiriendo ir por el camino fácil, que amenudo conduce a la oscuridad en lugar de al resplandor de la luz de Cristo. Al comenzar el tiempo de Adviento, San Pablo nos exhorta a despojarnos de las obras de las tinieblas, a despertar a llamada de la luz y del amor. En el evangelio de hoy, también Jesús nos dice que permanezcamos despiertos, que estemos preparados para recibir al Señor de la luz como personas de luz.
