RIGHT RELATIONSHIPS
Our God is about relationships. In the first reading, Moses reminds the Israelites that the laws, which are already in their hearts, keep them in right relationship with the God who loves them so much that they always find forgiveness. Centuries later, along comes Jesus, whom Paul describes to the Colossians as “the image of the invisible God,” the very embodiment of this God of love. In his parable about the good Samaritan, Jesus explains how the law of love over- rules the letter of the law. Instead of answering the question “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus demonstrates that it is not about who is worthy of being loved, but rather loving as God loves—about being neighbor, about being the good Samaritan. Jesus wants us to continue his work as images of this God of love by loving all people, even those who seem to be our enemies.

Nuestro Dios es acerca de relaciones. En la primera lectura, Moisés les recuerda a los israelitas que las leyes, que ya están en sus corazones, los mantiene en una relación correcta con el Dios que los ama tanto que siempre consiguen el perdón. Siglos después, llega Jesús, a quien Pablo describe a los colosenses como “la imagen del Dios invisible”, la encarnación misma de este Dios de amor. En su parábola acerca del buen samaritano, Jesús explica cómo la ley de amor anula la letra de la ley. En lugar de responder a la pregunta “¿quién es mi prójimo?” Jesús demuestra que no se trata de quien es digno de ser amado, sino de amar como Dios ama, de ser prójimo, de ser el buen samaritano. Jesús quiere que continuemos su obra como imágenes de este Dios de amor, amando a todas las personas, incluso a las que parecen ser nuestros enemigos.
