TRUST IN JESUS
Today’s feast celebrates another central mystery of our faith—the mystery of the Eucharist. Like the mystery of the Trinity, the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can never be fully under-stood, but can only be believed. Just as the Israelites in the desert were invited to put their trust in God’s word to them, we are invited to trust wholly in the word of Jesus.
In today’s Gospel Jesus promises to give us a share in his very own flesh and blood, and a share in eternal life besides. We are called to take him at his word and open our hearts to receive true nourishment and life from our participation in the Eucharist.

CONFIANZA EN JESUS
La fiesta de hoy celebra otro misterio central de nuestra fe: el misterio de la Eucaristía. Al igual que el misterio de la Trinidad, la presencia real del Cuerpo y de la Sangre de Cristo en la Eucaristía nunca puede entenderse plenamente, pero sólo puede creerse. Así como los israelitas en el desierto fueron invitados a poner su confianza en la palabra de Dios para ellos, estamos invitados a confiar totalmente en la palabra de Jesús.
En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús promete darnos una participación en su propia carne y sangre, y una participación en la vida eterna además. Estamos llamados a tomarlo en su palabra ya abrir nuestros corazones para recibir alimento y vida verdadera de nuestra participación en la Eucaristía.
