“You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.” – Matthew 16:18
This weekend we honor two extraordinary men who changed the course of history—not through wealth or power, but through their radical faith in Jesus Christ. Saint Peter and Saint Paul, very different in personality and mission, are united in one purpose: to proclaim Christ crucified and risen.
Peter was a humble fisherman, often impulsive, yet deeply loyal. Paul was a learned Pharisee, fiery and relentless. One denied Jesus in fear; the other persecuted Him in ignorance. Yet Jesus transformed them both. Peter became the first pope, the visible foundation of the Church. Paul became the fearless missionary, taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Their lives show us that God uses the imperfect, the broken, the unexpected—to build something eternal.
In a time when society often divides people into camps—by politics, language, culture, or class—
Peter and Paul teach us the power of unity in diversity. They didn’t always agree (Galatians 2:11–14), but their common faith in Christ was stronger than their differences. The Church today still stands because of their witness, their letters, and their martyrdom.
This solemnity calls us to remember that we, too, are called to be apostles—sent out into the world with faith, courage, and love. Like Peter, we may stumble. Like Paul, we may have a past. But Christ still calls us. His Church still needs us. And the world still hungers for the truth, they proclaimed.
Let us pray for our Church—founded on Peter and evangelized by Paul—that it may remain faithful and bold. And let us ask their intercession for ourselves, that we may live with conviction, speak with courage, and follow Jesus wherever He leads.

Este fin de semana, honramos a dos grandes apóstoles que cambiaron el rumbo de la historia—no por suriqueza o poder, sino por su fe radical en Jesucristo. San Pedro y San Pablo, muy distintos en personalidad y misión, estuvieron unidos por un mismo propósito: anunciar a Cristo crucificado y resucitado. Pedro era un pescador humilde, impulsivo pero leal. Pablo era un fariseo instruido, apasionado y tenaz. Uno negó a Jesús por miedo; el otro lo persiguió por ignorancia. Y sin embargo, Jesús los transformó a ambos. Pedro se convirtió en el primer Papa, fundamento visible de la Iglesia. Pablo en el misionero incansable, llevando el Evangelio hasta los confines del mundo. Sus vidas nos muestran que Dios usa a los imperfectos, a los heridos, a los inesperados… para construir algo eterno.
En tiempos donde la sociedad divide a las personas por política, idioma, cultura o clase, Pedro y Pablo nos enseñan el poder de la unidad en la diversidad. No siempre estuvieron de acuerdo (cf. Gálatas 2,11–14), pero su fe común en Cristo fue más fuerte que sus diferencias. Hoy la Iglesia sigue en pie gracias a su tes timonio, sus cartas y su martirio.
Esta solemnidad nos recuerda que nosotros también estamos llamados a ser apóstoles—enviados al mundo con fe, valentía y amor. Como Pedro, podemos tropezar. Como Pablo, podemos tener un pasado. Pero Cristo sigue llamándonos. Su Iglesia sigue necesitando de nosotros. Y el mundo sigue teniendo hambre de la verdad que ellos proclamaron.
Oremos por nuestra Iglesia—fundada sobre Pedro y evangelizada por Pablo—para que permanezca fiel y valiente. Y pidamos su intercesión por nosotros, para vivir con convicción, hablar con valentía y seguir a Jesús adonde Él nos lleve.
