From Our Pastor – The Gift of the Advocate

✨ Sixth Sunday of Easter – The Gift of the Advocate ✨

This Sunday’s Gospel reminds us of one of the most beautiful promises Jesus made to His disciples: “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you always… the Holy Spirit… who will teach you all things.” (John 14:16, 26)
As we continue our journey through the Easter season, we are reminded that Jesus never leaves us alone. Even as He prepared to return to the Father, He promised us the Holy Spirit—the Advocate, the Helper, the Comforter. The Holy Spirit is God’s own presence within us, guiding, teaching, and strengthening us in our Christian life.
This promise became powerfully real in our parish this weekend as Bishop Robert Vasa came to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with some of our young parishioners. In this beautiful sacrament, the same Holy Spirit that descended upon the Apostles at Pentecost has now been sealed in the hearts of our boys and girls. With sacred Chrism and the Bishop’s blessing, they were anointed to live as courageous witnesses of Jesus Christ in the world.
What a grace-filled moment for our parish! We give thanks to God for these newly confirmed young Catholics, and we pray that they always listen to the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit in their hearts— especially when the path gets difficult or the world grows noisy.
The Holy Spirit is not a one-time gift—it’s a lifelong companion. Let us open our hearts again to the Spirit’s presence this Easter season, and let us ask daily: “Come, Holy Spirit. Teach me, guide me, and help me to love as Jesus loves.”
With joy and gratitude, we thank Bishop Vasa for his visit, his fatherly presence, and for bringing the Spirit to our parish in such a special way.
