From Our Pastor – Breakfast with Jesus

Third Sunday of Easter – “Breakfast with Jesus”

In today’s Gospel (John 21:1–19), we see something beautifully ordinary and deeply divine: Jesus cooking breakfast for His disciples. After a long night of fishing and catching nothing, the Risen Lord appears and fills their nets with abundance—and then invites them to share a meal.
This moment reminds us that the Risen Jesus is not distant. He meets us in our daily work, in our struggles, and even in our weariness. He provides, He restores, and He invites us to rest and eat with Him.
And then comes the tender question to Peter: “Do you love me?” Not once, but three times. Peter had denied Jesus three times, and now Jesus gently gives him the chance to respond three times with love.
That’s mercy. That’s Easter.
Jesus still asks us today: “Do you love me?” And like Peter, our love may be imperfect, but Jesus takes it, blesses it, and sends us out to “Feed my sheep.”
May we recognize Jesus walking alongside us, providing for us, and calling us to love—especially in the ordinary moments of life.
