Dear Parish Family,
As we welcome this New Year, let us begin with hearts full of hope and gratitude. Every new day is a gift from God, offering us a chance to grow in faith, love, and purpose. On this Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, we look to Mary as our example of trust and surrender. When she said, “Let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38), she showed us the courage and joy of following God’s plan.
A farmer once found a barren piece of land. With patience and effort, he tilled the soil, planted seeds, and cared for it daily. Over time, the land became a lush and fruitful garden. When asked how he succeeded, he said, “I trusted the seeds to grow but worked hard to create the right conditions.”
This New Year is like a fertile field. God has planted seeds in our lives: faith, family, community, and resources. It is up to us to nurture them with prayer, dedication, and trust in His plan. As Proverbs 21:5 reminds us, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.”
This year, let us focus on:
- Deepening Our Faith
Like Mary, who treasured God’s blessings in her heart (Luke 2:19), let us take time to reflect, pray, and grow closer to the Lord. Make prayer, Scripture reading, and attending Mass a regular part of your life. - Strengthening Our Families
Pope Francis calls the family “the first school of love. The family is the nearest hospital, the first school for the young, and the best home for the elderly.” Strengthen your bonds with acts of kindness and understanding. St. Paul reminds us, “Bear with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians
4:2-3). - Building Fellowship
Our parish is a community where everyone belongs. This year, let us strengthen relationships by reaching out to those in need, sharing our gifts, and supporting one another. Together, we can live out the call to “stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24). - Flourishing in Health and Stewardship
God calls us to care for the gifts He has given us, including our health and resources. Commit to small steps for better physical and mental well-being. Be wise with your finances, budgeting carefully while sharing generously with those in need and supporting the parish. Remember, “Honor the Lord with your wealth… and your barns will be filled to overflowing” (Proverbs 3:9-10).
As we begin this journey into 2025, let us place our dreams and challenges in God’s hands, trusting in His promise: “I know the plans I have for you… plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
May this year bring spiritual renewal, family joy, a strong parish community, and abundant blessings. With Mary’s intercession and God’s grace, let us grow together in faith and love.
Wishing you a joyful New Year filled with God’s peace,
Fr. Sudhakar Mannam
