A Message from Our Pastor

Dear Parish Family:
Merry Christmas and warm greetings to all of you! It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month since I arrived as your new pastor. Time flies when you’re surrounded by such wonderful and welcoming people!
As I settle in, I’m reminded of the story of a little boy who was staring at a nativity scene in church. He looked intently at baby Jesus and then whispered, “Jesus, if you ever get out of there, I’m going to give you all my toys!” That story always makes me smile because it reminds us how the innocence of children often captures the true spirit of Christmas. Like that little boy, Christmas invites us to offer our best to Jesus—not toys, perhaps, but our love, our faith, and our hearts.
This holy season, we celebrate the greatest gift of all: God becoming one of us in the person of Jesus Christ. In the busyness of life, it’s easy to get caught up in gifts, decorations, and holiday stress. But at the heart of it all is Emmanuel—God with us. His humble birth in Bethlehem speaks to the incredible truth that God’s love knows no bounds.
As your new pastor, I’m overjoyed to journey with you in faith. I’ve already been touched by the kindness and generosity of so many of you. Whether it’s a cheerful “Hello, Father!” or an invitation to share a meal, your warmth makes me feel right at home.
This Christmas, I encourage you to embrace moments of laughter, joy, and togetherness. Be present with your loved ones, reach out to those in need, and let the light of Christ shine through you. And don’t forget to make room in your hearts for Jesus—He’s not looking for toys, but your love and trust.
I look forward to celebrating my first Christmas with all of you at St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s. May this season fill your homes with peace, your hearts with joy, and your spirits with the wonder of God’s love. Merry Christmas to you and your families! I’ll keep praying for you—please pray for me, too (especially that I don’t burn the Christmas ham this year!)
With love, joy, and a few chuckles,
Fr. Sudhakar Mannam
