From the Pastor’s Desk …. The Revolution of God’s Kingdom
After hearing the Gospel of St. Luke, we can imagine the scene: It’s Saturday and Jesus solemnly recites the Scripture from the prophet Isaiah: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to announce a joyful message to the poor…” And Jesus concludes saying: “Today this Scripture is fulfilled.”
Jesus begins his mission by announcing the coming of a new Kingdom, a kingdom of love and forgiveness, a kingdom of compassion and care, a kingdom of patience, tolerance and acceptance, a kingdom in which all of us will be treating each other as brothers and sisters. It seems my friends that now this invitation to work in and for Je-sus’ kingdom is coming to those priests who have received new assignments. With the help of the Holy Spirit I lived everyday as witness of Christ for this beautiful Lake County in which I had the privilege to bring the good news of the Gospel of Christ to many of you in English and in Spanish, I am sure Fr. Mario is ready to come and continue bringing to you the love and compassion of God. As priests this is our mission, our task, and we love it!!.
Jesus preached a Kingdom of holiness and of love, but also of freedom and justice; a Kingdom He chooses to build in the heart of man. This is where the first spark, for the true revolution of the world, is ignited. Only Christ is capable of responding to the great problems of humanity. The true salvation of all peoples will be found in Jesus and through Jesus.
Every time we gather to celebrate the Eucharist, we proclaim and celebrate the Good News of our salvation. Our meeting is like the one in Nazareth. We also hear the reading of the Word of God, the gospel is also explained, and we too celebrate with joy – the action of Grace. Proclaiming the Word and celebrating the Eucharist is the best news there is for our world, though it often does not appear so.
We should leave after Mass, repeating the same words as Jesus, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in my life.” Our parents always repeated, in good times and bad: “Let God’s Will be done!” Nothing happens that is not His will. Have we learned to recognize His will in all? Do not forget that our families would be more harmonious; our work would flow easier; our society would be more just; and the parish community would be more fervent, if every day we would light up with the Gospel message – with the great challenge of building a world of peace and progress – a world of values and faithfulness. That is the Kingdom of God.

Del escritorio del Sr. Cura… La revolución del reino de Dios
Después de escuchar el Evangelio de San Lucas, podemos imaginar la escena: Es sábado y Jesús recita so-lemnemente la Escritura del profeta Isaías: “El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, porque el Señor me ha ungido, me ha enviado a anunciar un mensaje de alegría a los pobres…” Y Jesús concluye diciendo:: “Hoy esta Escritura se ha cum-plido”.
Jesús comienza su misión anunciando la venida de un nuevo reino, un reino de amor y perdón, un reino de la compasión y cuidado, un reino de la paciencia, la tolerancia y aceptación, un reino en el que todos vamos a estar ac-tuando y tratar a los demás como hermanos y hermanas. Parece mis amigos que ahora esta invitación para trabajar en y para el reino de Jesús está llegando a aquellos sacerdotes que han recibido nuevas tareas. He estado tratando de ser cada día un testigo de Cristo para este hermoso condado de Lake en el que tuve el privilegio de llevar la buena no-ticia del Evangelio a muchos de ustedes en Inglés y en Español, estoy seguro de P. Mario está listo para salir y conti-nuar con lo que a usted el amor y la compasión de Dios. Como sacerdotes de Dios esta es nuestra misión, esta es nuestra tarea, y nosotros amamos nuestra vocación.
Jesús predicó un reino de santidad y de amor, pero también de la libertad y la justicia; un Reino Él elige para construir en el corazón del hombre. Aquí es donde la primera chispa, para la verdadera revolución del mundo, se en-ciende. Sólo Cristo es capaz de responder a los grandes problemas de la humanidad. La verdadera salvación de la hu-manidad se encuentra en Jesús y por Jesús.
Cada vez que nos reunimos para celebrar la Eucaristía, proclamamos y celebrar la buena nueva de nuestra salvación. Nuestro encuentro es como la de Nazaret. También escuchamos la lectura de la Palabra de Dios, también se explica el evangelio, y nosotros también celebramos con alegría – la acción de la Gracia. Proclamando la Palabra y la celebración de la Eucaristía es la mejor noticia que hay para nuestro mundo, aunque a menudo no aparece de modo.
Debemos dejar después de la Misa, repitiendo las mismas palabras que Jesús: “Hoy se cumple esta Escritura en mi vida.” Nuestros padres siempre repiten, en las buenas y en las malas: “¡Vamos a Dios Voluntad se haga” No ocu-rre nada que no sea su voluntad. ¿Hemos aprendido a reconocer su voluntad en toda? No hay que olvidar que nues-tras familias serían más armonioso; nuestro trabajo fluiría más fácil; nuestra sociedad sería más justo; y la comunidad parroquial sería más ferviente, si cada día que se iluminaba con el mensaje del Evangelio – con el gran reto de construir un mundo de paz y progreso – un mundo de valores y la fidelidad. Ese es el Reino de Dios.
